Bangladesh Cricket Board confirms that Shakib Al Hasan is ruled out of the first Test against Sri Lanka.

The ace all-rounder was taken to hospital for a scan on his injured finger.

Shakib walked out of the field following an injury to his finger during the tri-nation series final against Sri Lanka.

Shakib was taken to the hospital for X-rays and BCB physician Dr. Debashish said following an assesment that the affected finger will need to be immobilized for a week. He also confirmed that the injury is a joint sprain at the base of his little finger.

"The x-ray did not find any fracture. However, there is subluxation/joint sprain at the base of the little finger on his left hand. He has been assessed by a cosmetic surgeon and necessary repairs have been done. The affected finger will have to be immobilized for at least a week before further assessment is made which means he is out of the first Test in Chittagong," the physician was quoted as saying.

The left-hander dove forward to collect a ball, with a run-out chance beckoning. Shakib misjudged the height of the ball and missed it. He landed on his fingers and commentators had said that he dislocated his finger. The incident took place in the first delivery of the 41st over when Mustafizur Rahman was bowling.

Shakib was taken to the medical room for initial treatment.
