Shakib the bargain buy of IPL 2018
The world's best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL-2018 auction for RS 2 crore, which is a heist given the all-rounder's recent performances this season.
Shakib Al Hasan was released by the Kolkata Knight Riders after having featured for them in the past seven IPL seasons. Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired his services after a bidding war with Rajsthan Royals during the IPL auctions.
Shakib's value can be found when one watches out for the price tags of some of the other all-rounders in IPL this season. Ben Stokes was valued at RS 12.50 crore, Andre Russell at RS 8.50 crore, Hardik Pandya went for RS 11 crore and Krunal Pandya for RS 8.8 crore.
Shakib bagged a total of 12 wickets this season for Sunrisers in IPL at an economy rate of 7.80 and a dot percentage of 41.66. The figures look more impressive when one takes into account the fact that Shakib usually bowled during powerplay. The captain Kane Williamson, seem to rely on the no 1 all-rounder and he did not disappoint.
A 32-ball 35 against Royal Challengers Bangalore and a cameo of 27 runs against his former team Kolkata Knight Riders -- both the innings coming in a challenging period of the game, showcased the excellent all-round capabilities of the 31-year old.
