Taskin, Imrul out, Mosaddek makes a return
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today announced the squad for the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan and left-hander Imrul Kayes and pacer Taskin Ahmed have been excluded from the squad while Mosaddek Hossain came back into the side.
Opener Soumya Sarkar, who lost his central contract in 2018 has also been included while Ariful Haque retained his spot in the squad. Nurul Hasan, Taskin and Imrul, who were all part of the Nidahas Trophy squad have been excluded.
Chief selector Minhazul Abedin informed that Soumya was included after positive affirmations with the Courtney Walsh and captain Shakib Al Hasan.
"Sohan [Nurul Hasan] was changed since we already have two wicket-keeper batsmen in the side. Mosaddek has been included in that place since we wanted an all-rounder and also because we have some concerns over Miraz's fitness," the chief selector said.
Regarding Mosaddek's inclusion, Minhazul said: "Since this is the shorter version, we have seen that he has enough ability to handle spin because he has the talent. Maybe he lacked a bit of consistency at times but team management had enough confidence in his fitness and that is why he was included."
The Tigers will travel to Dehradun on May 29 for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, before embarking on the tour of West Indies in late June.
