Abahani win via D/L method following record List A total
Under controversial circumstances, Abahani Limited won against Prime Doleshwar by 20 runs courtesy of D/L method in the Super League phase of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at BKSP's Savar today.
Twin tons from openers Anamul Haque and Nazmul Hossain Shanto helped Abahani post a record total of 393 in List A cricket in Bangladesh.
Having won the toss, Abahani innings was powered by the highest opening stand between Anamul and Nazmul in List A cricket of 236 runs. Anamul struck 128 from 126 deliveries with seven fours and six sixes while scored a 106-ball 121 with 12 fours and two sixes.
Coming down at one down, India's Hanuma Vihari continued the onslaught with a 36-ball 66 while Mohammad Mithun remained unbeaten with a 24-ball 47.
Doleshwar came out with a strong reply in chase as Fazle Mahmud and Marshal Ayub both struck tons in 207-run stand. The game was interrupted by rain in the 30-over mark of the Doleshwar chase, when the team were ahead in D/L standing but after a period of almost one and a half hour, play resumed but with a revised total and only five overs to play. In those five overs, the revised total was 278, with Doleshwar needing 61 runs with eight wickets remaining. There was a slight rain and the conditions were gloom and dark due to the gathering clouds. Eventually, play stopped again at 34.1 over mark with five balls remaining but in the 4.1 overs, Doleshwar managed just 27 runs and Abahani won by D/L method.
In another game at Fatullah, Legends of Rupganj defeated Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity by 12 runs after posting 216 on the board for the loss of eight wickets.
In another rain-affected game, this time at Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi ran out winners against Gazi Group Cricketers by eight runs courtesy of the D/L method.
Batting first, Sheikh Jamal posted 248 runs on the board thanks to Ziaur Rahman's 74-ball 86 with six fours and five sixes. After rain affected play after 47 overs and the match was stopped with the revised total was 226 and Gazi group falling short by eight runs.
