U19s lose second practice match
Bangladesh U-19 team lost their second practice match by 24 runs against Otago A at Dunedin, New Zealand today.
The Tigers won the toss yet again but elected to bowl first after they were defeated in the first practice match which was played at the same ground. Otago A put on a formidable 278 runs on the board in their 50 overs for the loss of three wickets. They did not have the best of starts, losing two early wickets as Hasan Mahmud got the wickets of GW Crowdis and HD Rutherford, both out bowled. Otago A recovered courtesy of twin centuries from CT Hawkins, who struck a 135-ball 137 and HJ Visavadiya who score 112 from 101 deliveries as they put on a target of 279 for the young Tigers to chase.
In reply, the U19's fell short by 24 runs as they were bowled out for 254 in 49.1 overs. Skipper Saif Hassan struck a 77-ball 54. Aminul Islam, who struck a 57-ball 52 along with Mahidul Islam, kept the young Tigers in the game but in the end the target was just too big.
