Walsh expects Fizz to deliver if fully fit
Bangladesh's coach Courtney Walsh informs that Mustafizur Rahman is currently not fully fit but reassures that the problem is not his shoulder but the toe while the West Indies great expects him to thrive if he is fully fit during the three-match T20 series against Afghanistan.
Mustafizur Rahman reported back after returning from his stint with IPL outfit Kolkata Knight Riders, who were ousted by Shakib Al Hasan's Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier. Walsh, who was announced as head coach for the Afghanistan series today, confirmed that Fizz was given a few days of to recuperate.
"At the moment unfortunately, he has got a little toe problem. Yesterday, he reported back but not a hundred per cent but it is not his shoulder, it's his toe. We have given him a couple days off because we would like to see him fire in when we go to India to play Afghanistan," Walsh informed.
The coach was hopeful that if Mustafizur gets back into shape, he will deliver in the T20 series against the Afghans.
"He has improved quite a lot. His strength has come back. He is bowling quick again. Not upto where we want him to be yet but I think he is getting there. If he is fully fit in India, I expect him to deliver," Walsh added.
Walsh was said that he was backing his team to do well and affirmed that Tigers are not going to take Afghanistan lightly.
"You tell me," Walsh replied when asked which team was the favourite.
"They are ahead of us in the rankings which is something we are mindful of. Actually, I think it is going to be a very keen contest. I am backing my team to do the job but we are not going to be complacent," Walsh concluded.
