Candidate Master Manon Reja Neer became the unbeaten champion in Open U-8 Group of the Commonwealth Chess Championships at the close of the seventh and final round in New Delhi yesterday.

Neer drew with Indian Akash in the seventh round to share joint top position with Rosh Jain, with six points each. Later, a tie-break was held and Neer, who finished second in last year's competition, overcame Jani to become champion.
