BCB announces preliminary squad for Eng series
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the 30-member preliminary squad for the England series scheduled to begin from October 4 later this year.
The major surprise of the squad selection was the return of seasoned campaigners like Shahriar Nafees, Raqibul Hasan and Mohammad Suhrawardi. These players came back into contention after their strong performances in the domestic circuit.
Good bowling against the Zimbabweans last year and during the recently concluded Dhaka Premier League earned Kamrul Islam his call-up to the preliminary squad. Mosaddek Hossain and Muktar Ali have been included as well. They will be able to rub their shoulders with the likes of Anamul Haque, Liton Das and Rubel Hossain.
The squad members are instructed to report to Bangladesh cricket team's strength and conditioning coach Mario Villavarayan on July 20 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
On June 28, the BCB officially announced the itinerary of England's tour of Bangladesh this year. England will arrive on September 30 and are scheduled to leave in the first week of November.
They will begin the tour with a one-day warm up game at Fatullah on October 4, followed by two ODIs on October 7 and 9 in Mirpur. They will play the third ODI on October 12 in Chittagong followed by a Test from October 20 to 24.
The second Test will take place between October 28 and November 1 in Mirpur.
