The BCCI has announced a provisional 15-man squad for the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy, beginning on February 19, with injury-return pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami and left-arm leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav making the cut.

There were injury concerns over all three bowlers ahead of the selection on Saturday. Kuldeep had surgery for a hernia in November, Bumrah had suffered a stress-related injury during the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and Shami had missed the Australia tour owing to a side strain and has not played international cricket since the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The 15-man squad will be led by Rohit Sharma, with Shubman Gill as his vice-captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is yet to play an ODI, was also picked.

The same squad will take on England in three ODIs in early February, with Harshit Rana coming into the set-up as backup for Bumrah, who may not be ready for the first two matches of the bilateral series.

The final squad for the Champions Trophy must be submitted to the ICC by February 11.

India: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja
