Bangladesh all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz has been handed the vice-captaincy for the upcoming Champions Trophy in UAE and Pakistan. Miraz had captained the side during the West Indies Tests and ODI and with regular skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto's return to the side following injury, Miraz will now act as Shanto's deputy in the event.

With the squad set to depart on the early hours of Friday, BCB has issued a press release to communicate Miraz's new role.

The BCB press release also said that pacers Khaled Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud will go to Dubai on Saturday to train with the Bangladesh side. Both pacers will however to Bangladesh following the opening match against India on February 20.
