Fizz's surgery successful
Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman’s shoulder surgery was successfully completed, The Daily Star learned late Thursday night. The surgery on his left shoulder -- an injury that has been troubling the prodigious fast bowler for the best part of a year -- took place this afternoon at the BUPA Cromwell hospital in London with Mustafizur being in the operation theatre for about an hour. The SLAP tear was successfully repaired during the surgery.
The hard part for Mustafizur will begin after recovery, as he will have to go through a rigorous rehabilitation programme to get back to his best. Details of the rehab regime will be revealed by the doctors tomorrow. The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB’s) sports physician Debashish Chowdhury is in London and will be there to learn of Fizz's rehab procedure.
Mustafizur may have to remain in the hospital for up to two days following the surgery.
Earlier today, before going to the operation theatre, Mustafizur was pleasantly surprised by a call from Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who wished him the best for the surgery and assured him that everything will be fine. BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon is also in London to be with Mustafizur during his surgery and recovery
