'But I enjoy keeping more than batting'

Mushfiqur Rahim didn't keep wickets in the last Test in Chittagong last week and he informed in a press conference yesterday that he wouldn't be donning the gloves in the second Test either.

It will only be the fifth time in 48 Tests that Mushfiqur will not be standing behind the stumps. Considering the rarity of the matter, it didn't take too long for journalists to enquire about Mushfiqur's future with regards to keeping.

The Test skipper was asked if he had plans to gradually focus only on his batting in the longest version of the game. The 28-year-old however, dismissed that notion almost immediately.

"Can somebody give up everything that easily? No they can't. And with regards to me, there's not even a question in my mind regarding that. If one needs to leave keeping due to team combination, that is a different issue but I enjoy my keeping more than my batting and that's why I haven't thought about leaving that role at all," said Mushfiqur.

The skipper believed that he could get back his role once he had completely recovered from his finger injury.

"As per the current plan I won't be keeping in tomorrow's match. Hopefully I can return to keeping in the future, but at the moment I am not wearing the gloves because I am not hundred per cent fit as yet. Till then I will perform the two other duties that I have," said Mushfiqur.
