Fizz can't stop CSK win
Mustafizur Rahman, debuting for his new side the Mumbai Indians, had an outing to forget as the returning Chennai Super Kings clinched a thrilling one-wicket victory off the penultimate ball in the Indian Premier League opener at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium yesterday.
The Bangladeshi haemorrhaged 39 runs in 3.5 overs with just the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja to show for after the dismal performance.
With seven required off the final over, Mustafizur had the seemingly simple task of bowling to Kedar Jadhav (24 not out), who was rendered unable to run by a hamstring problem and even admitted after the match that he would have to sit out for the next games.
Things seemed to be going according to plan as the first three balls yielded no runs. However, Jadhav sat down on his knee and blazed a six off the fourth ball over fine leg before sealing the victory with a boundary.
Earlier, West Indian Dwayne Bravo, adjudged player-of-the-match, was the star turn with a 30-ball 68 studded with seven sixes and three fours that took Chennai to 10 runs of victory. However, he had played a vital hand in the first innings as well, giving away just 25 runs from four overs.
