Bangladesh A lose against Sri Lanka in Emerging Asia Cup

Bangladesh A started their Emerging Asia Cup campaign with a 48-run loss against Sri Lanka A at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Thursday. 

In reply to Sri Lanka A's 349 for eight, Bangladesh A led by Saif Hassan were bundled out for 301 in 48.3 overs.

Fifties from Mohammad Naim and Saif gave Bangladesh A momentum but the batters failed to make their start count.

Soumya Sarker scored a 46-ball 42 and was helped by Rakibul Islam's 36-ball 40 but it wasn't enough as Sri Lanka tightened the screws to clinch the first match.

Sri Lanka pacer Pramod Madushan and leg-spinner Dushan Hemantha picked up three wickets each.

Earlier, Sri Lanka A opener Avishka Fernando smashed a 124-ball 133 to help his side to 349 for eight.

Bangladesh A off-spinner Sheikh Mahedi kept things tight as he picked up one wicket for 48 runs in his full quota, while Soumya Sarker scalped three wickets on a day the bowlers struggled to keep a lid on proceedings.
