Bangladesh make Hong Kong International Sixes quarterfinal

Bangladesh made the quarterfinals of the Hong Kong International Sixes tournament after coming out second in their Group D standings. Bangladesh will face Pakistan in the fourth quarterfinal tomorrow at 4:40 pm local time.

Bangladesh were buoyed by their 34-run win against Oman at Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok as both Jishan Alam and Mohammad Saifuddin hit 55 off 12 deliveries. Jishan hit eight sixes and a four during his 55 while Saifuddin managed seven sixes and three fours. Both batters retired hurt after notching fifties.

Batter Yasir Ali remained unbeaten on a nine-ball 26 as Bangladesh reached 147 in six overs without losing any wickets. Jishan bagged two wickets with the ball while Saifuddin, Sohag Gazi and Abu Haider got one wicket each to restrict Oman to 113 for five.

Oman, who lost their match against Sri Lanka earlier in the day by four wickets, slumped to third in the table after the defeat.

Bangladesh suffered in their second game of the day, losing by 18 runs against Sri Lanka.

Lihuru Madhusanka, the Lankan captain, hit a 17-ball 47 as Sri Lanka managed 107 for 3. Jishan was once again the pick of the bowlers, bagging two wickets for 6 runs in one over.

In reply, Bangladesh reached 89 for 3. Saifuddin hit a 17-ball 42 while Jishan hit 27 off 13 deliveries at the top. Needing 39 to win, Saifuddin hit three sixes in the final over to reduce the margin of the defeat.
