Central Zone beat North in BCL

BCB Central Zone cruised to a comprehensive 10-wicket win over BCB North Zone on the third day to register their consecutive wins in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) today. 

Having started the day on 122 for 4 in their second innings, North were bundled out for 247 runs to post an 82-run target for Central. Akbar Ali top-scored with 88 runs.

Central, in reply, reached the target on the back of openers Abdullah Al Mamun, who remained unbeaten on 66 off 70 balls, including nine fours and three sixes, and his partner Abdul Mazid who scored a steady 17 to clinch their second win of the tournament.  

At Sheikh Kamal International Stadium in Cox's Bazar, Islami Bank East Zone are in a spot of bother as they ended the third day on 53 for 3 in their second innings and are leading by 68 runs against BCB South Zone. 

Resuming the day on 137 for 2, South were all-out on 335 runs in reply to East zone's 350 conceding a 1-run lead.  

Despite getting starts, none of the South batters were able to convert them into big knocks. 

Pinak Ghosh and Moin Khan scored fifties and the former top-scored with 78.
Off-spinner Nayeem Hasan picked up his 13th first-class five-wicket haul as he returned with six wickets for 89 runs, while Mohammad Ashraful bagged two for East zone.
