Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon finally made clear that Russell Domingo will not be in charge of the Bangladesh T20I team.

Papon said during a press conference today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur that newly-appointed technical consultant Sridharan Sriram will be in charge of the side for the Asia Cup, which will begin from August 27.

The announcement came following intense speculation about Domingo's fate as Bangladesh head coach. Reports earlier indicated that Sriram was going to take charge of the Tigers' T20I outfit till the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.

Papon also added that there would not be a specific head coach for the Asia Cup as Domingo will to be travelling to the event.

Bangladesh will be under Sriram' guidance in T20Is till the T20 World Cup while Domingo will remain head coach for the Test and ODI teams while also providing plans and looking at players from domestic cricket.

Although the board appointed Sriram as a technical consultant, it is now clear that he will actually play the role of head coach.

The BCB boss reiterated that they were going to make a separate plan for the white-ball and red-ball cricket.
