There was a reason for Bangladesh stand-in skipper Liton Das to breathe a sigh of relief after his side's thrilling seven-run victory against West Indies in the first of three T20Is in St Vincent on Sunday. 

The right-hander's another batting failure in the match at the Arnos Vale Stadium could have hogged the spotlight had pacer Hasan Mahmud failed to heroically defend 10 runs in the last over to seal a much-needed win for the Tigers. 

On the bright side of things, Liton has set a small piece of national record for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in a T20I innings (five) -- going past Mushfiqur Rahim's three. However, his continuous batting lapses remained a serious cause of concern, leaving him desperate to rediscover his form in the next two matches if he wants to return home with some solace. 

West Indies left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein contributed to Liton's abysmal run from the preceding ODI series, taking a simple return catch. It was Liton's second duck in a row on this tour after scoring 4 and 2 in the first two ODIs.

The wicketkeeper-batter's scores in the two-match Test series also read sordid figures of 40, 22, 1, 25. 

Ahead of the T20I series following a 3-0 drubbing in the ODIs, Liton had expressed his desire to see his side reverse the trend, and it materialised.

"If we play good for another game, we can win the [T20I] series," said an optimistic Liton, who now must turn the tide on the individual front.
