Hashan Tillakaratne set to become BD women's cricket team head coach
Former Sri Lanka Test skipper, Hashan Tillakaratne, is set to become the head coach of Bangladesh women's national cricket team.
"He will join from November. We had held talks with him during the Women's Asia Cup. Now, everything has been finalised. He will be arriving in Bangladesh in one or two days," Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director and women's wing chairman Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel confirmed The Daily Star on Wednesday.
Tillakaratne took charge of the Sri Lanka women's cricket team in July last year. With Tillakaratne as the head coach, Sri Lanka made it to the final of the recently-concluded Asia Cup in Sylhet earlier this month.
The BCB had talks with him as a prospective candidate for the head coach position during that time in Sylhet. He will be joining the BCB from November 1.
After Anju Jain left the post of the head coach in 2020, local coach Mahmud Emon assumed the role.
The Tigresses had a dismal Asia Cup campaign as the defending champions crashed out of the continental championship from the league stage.
