Hemming joins BCB as curator
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed Tony Hemming as a curator on a two-year contract.
The Australian will be tasked with the development of the Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium in Purbachal along with running education programs for curators.
The BCB is working with architects for facilities in Rajshahi and Khulna. Those kinds of facilities along with the existing ones in Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram, would require maintenance and the BCB wants to develop curators who can oversee such facilities.
"We will be applying his [Hemming's] knowledge for curator education. He will be going to all the venues to observe the conditions and advise the venue curators through his expertise. We will also be running curator training programmes in all the regions. He will be the curator educator of BCB for all the venues but he will also be developing the Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium. There will be at least 50 wickets at the venue," BCB Grounds Committee chairman Mahbub Anam told The Daily Star today.
"Hemming is a vastly experienced cricket curator, educator, and an expert in the preparations of cricket turfs and soils," a BCB press release said.
Hemming is a former Head Curator of the ICC Cricket Academy and the Dubai International Stadium. He was an ICC Pitch Consultant for the Oman Cricket Academy. His previous roles also include that of the Arena Manager of the Optus Stadium in Perth, International Presenter & Educator for ICC Cricket Academy, and Arena Manager for the King Fahad International Football Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
