Injuries put Asia Cup plans in limbo
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has requested the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to extend the deadline for submission of the Tigers' final squad for Asia Cup.
August 8 is the deadline for all six participating teams to submit their final squads for the Asia's showpiece event, which will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from August 27 to September 11.
"We have a long injury list and that's why we need to assess the injury updates before submitting the squad. We requested ACC to make August 10 the deadline for us," informed Jalal Yunus, BCB's cricket operations committee chairman, today.
Yunus added that opener Liton Das was ruled out of the Asia Cup as he has a grade-2 tear. On the other hand, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin and Yasir Ali also have some injury concerns.
Pakistan became the first team to announce their squad for the upcoming multi-nation T20I event.
