Joy hits ton as Bangladesh A draw third four-day Test
Mahmudul Hasan Joy's fourth first-class ton starred as Bangladesh A staged a turnaround with the bat in the fourth innings against West Indies A to help the hosts draw the third and final four-day Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Joy's 268-ball unbeaten 114 that featured 14 fours helped Bangladesh A draw the match but the hosts lost the series 1-0 having been beaten in the second match.
The hosts managed to pull themselves out of a bleak outlook after getting bundled out for just 205 in response to West Indies A's 445 in the first innings.
Bangladesh A, led by batter Saif Hassan, were bolstered in terms of strength with the inclusion of Mominul Haque, Yasir Ali, and Nurul Hasan Sohan but that came to little help to the hosts no batter could create an impression.
The visitors managed a 240-run lead and declared their innings at 220 for five meaning that Bangladesh A needed 461 to level the series.
Bangladesh openers Zakir Hasan and Mahmudul Hasan Joy showed application to the task at hand and put together a 93-run stand before off-spinner Kevin Sinclair sent back the former.
Mominul Haque could manage only five runs, the same number of runs he managed to muster in the first innings before getting trapped lbw by Sinclair.
Joy stood firm at one end, and Yasir hit four sixes and a six fours for an 85-ball 67 but he too succumbed to Sinclair.
Shahadat Hossain looked good for his 20 runs and Joy's application at the other end helped the hosts end the fourth and final day at 306 for four.
Joy was adjudged the player of the match for his ton and his solitary scalp with the ball.
