Former BCB director Khaled Mahmud Sujon came down heavily on the pair of Faruque Ahmed and Nazmul Abedeen over perceived 'greed' related to cricket operations department. Faruque, as the BCB president is currently heading the department as no standing committees are yet to be announced with only few board directors available.

It has now been revealed that the problems between BCB president Faruque and director Fahim Abedeen stemmed from the latter wanting to hold the chair of cricket operations. The news about the fracas between BCB's two new directors, had been the highlight of media attention yesterday but the problem has been stirring for a while with media often highlighting difference in opinions.

There was news that Fahim was pondering resignation from the board over those differences.

BCB director Fahim gave an interview to a media channel where he discussed where the problems stemmed from. That he wanted the role of cricket operations chairman, was revealed during the interview.

Although Fahim is the member secretary of the BPL governing council, he said he did not know about quite a few scenarios related to BPL.

Fahim also argued that since both of them came in to the board due to their solidarity with the July movement, either of him or Faruque should be heading cricket operations department.

"If our board president wasn't the president, I would have recommended him as the cricket operations chairman. Since he is cricket board president, I don't think we have any other options left. I feel that I have the capability of doing this job. I am telling this directly, that I told the advisor that if I don't get this, I will be very hurt," Fahim had said during the interview.

Khaled Mahmud, who has also been the vice-chairman of cricket operations and chairman of game development before his resignation, said both the directors were showing their greed.

"Both of them are former cricketers. They should not be having an ego problem. They've come here to bring development to cricket. When they came, I saw a lot of commitment from them, especially from Fahim bhai [Nazmul Abedeen Fahim] who said he was making long-term plans, and thinking about a vision. I don't see those things now. Now, I can see that it has become a matter of greed," Mahmud, who is the coach of Dhaka Capitals this BPL, told the media at Sylhet today.

Mahmud was particularly scathing of Fahim's intentions. He questioned why Fahim felt he can only serve cricket if he becomes cricket operations chairman.

"'I won't work if I don't get the cricket operations post, I will resign', this is just greed. I think they have it in them. Why do I need to have the cricket operations role? If I am the chairman of some other committee, why can't I serve there? Is he a master of cricket operations? Akram bhai [Akram Khan] is ahead in that regard; he is the master ahead of Fahim bhai. He [Akram Khan] can demand it [the cricket operations role] because he is a former captain and even served as the cricket operations chairman previously. So why is he [Nazmul] saying that he must get that job? It is becoming a matter of ego, an ego problem between the two. I don't know what's happening," Mahmud said.

Mahmud said that the biggest failure was not being able to form the standing committees of the board. In fact, only Faruque and Fahim have appeared to be active following regime change.

"It's difficult for Faruque bhai to run the board with so few directors. Why isn't Faruque bhai taking on new directors? He should take those people who they want to take.

"It feels bad when I see such attitudes from them. Both of them are seniors who we respect and are cricketers. When I see them like this, I feel ashamed. It makes me question that are we, the cricketers, actually that greedy," he added.
