Mushy fit to make 100th T20I appearance
Mushfiqur Rahim will not have to wait further to make his 100th T20I appearance as the wicketkeeper batsman was declared fit to play the second T20I against Afghanistan, slated to be played tomorrow.
Mushfiqur, who was dropped from the squad for the Pakistan series at home following the World Cup, sat out the first T20I yesterday as Bangladesh thrashed Afghanistan by 61 runs -- their largest-margin win against a Test-playing nation.
"On March 2, Mushfiqur had to go under the scanner after a ball hit his right-hand thumb. There was no fracture or anything of the kind that was revealed in the X-ray. We had him under observation yesterday and there was no swelling [in his thumb]," Bangladesh physio Bayzid Ul Islam informed the media today in a video message.
"He batted against throwdowns, spin and pace as well today. He's good and available for selection tomorrow," Bayzid dictated.
Nurul Hasan Sohan was added to the squad on Wednesday night as a precautionary measure after Mushfiqur's injury. On the day of the match, Bayzid informed that Mushfiqur had swelling and was ruled out of the first T20I. Mushfiqur, who last played a T20I in November at the UAE World Cup, will look to make his 100th memorable after being declared fit.
