NCL T20 winners to bank Tk 20 lakhs

The Bangladesh Cricket Board revealed on Sunday that the winners of the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 will receive Tk 20 lakhs as prize money.

Dhaka Metro will take on Rangpur Division in the grand finale of the tournament at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

The runners-up will bank Tk 10 lakhs, while the player of the tournament will receive Tk 1 lakh. Fifty-thousand taka was allocated for the highest run-getter and the highest wicket-taker.

Rangpur secured their spot in the final by winning the first qualifier by four wickets against Metro yesterday. Metro was at the top of the points table at the end of the first phase after winning all seven matches. Rangpur, who were in second, won five.
Although their winning streak came to an end, Metro had another opportunity to make it to the grand finale. They made full use of it. The Naim Sheikh-led side won the second qualifier against Khulna Division by 38 runs today.

Naim is almost set to become the highest run-getter of the tournament with 316 runs at a strike rate of 136.80 in nine matches as the other contenders -- Zeeshan Alam (281 runs at a strike rate of 158.76 in seven matches) and Nurul Hasan Sohan (266 runs at a strike rate of 126.07 in eight matches), -- have exited the competition after their sides failed to make it to the final.

On the other hand, the fight to become the highest wicket-taker has become heated. Chittagong division's Ahmed Sharif tops that chart with 17 wickets in eight matches at an economy of 7.77. and has Rangpur's Alauddin Babu (16 wickets in eight games at an economy of 5.74) breathing down his neck. Metro's Rakibul Hasan (14 wickets in nine matches at an economy of 5.97) is third on that list.
