No ties with BCB if Shakib stays under Betwinner contract: Papon

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president, Nazmul Hassan Papon, said Shakib Al Hasan will be excluded from the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming Asia Cup if the all-rounder's sponsorship deal with Betwinner news -- a sister concern of betting site Betwinner -- is not revoked.

The board president talked to the media at Beximco offices following a meeting regarding Shakib's contract with Betwinner. Though Shakib was expected to let his decision be known in written form, the star cricketer is yet to convey his decision.

Papon reiterated the BCB's zero tolerance policy towards betting. And in case Shakib and the board does not come to a resolution in the matter, Shakib's contract with BCB will consequently be terminated.

"If Shakib does not cancel contract (with Betwinner) he will have no relationship with BCB," Papon told the media.
