A payment dispute with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) meant that Toby Radford, the head coach of the High Performance unit, may not join the ongoing training camp in Cox's Bazar, The Daily Star learned today.

According to sources, the Welsh coach, who was appointed as the HP head coach in August 2020, had asked the board to deposit his full payment in advance, and that too in dollars in his foreign account, which created some complications.

According to the Bangladesh government rules and regulations, there is no scope to transfer the full payment in dollars but Radford is willing to have the full payment in his account.

"Radford was supposed to arrive but now he is demanding his full payment in advance, and that too in dollars. But we are not able to do that, as per government rules and regulations," said a BCB official requesting anonymity.

"Also, according to the government regulations we can give 80 per cent of the payment in foreign account and the remaining 20 percent has to be deposited in a Bangladeshi account. But he demands the full payment in his foreign account.

"Previously when he [Radford] came we did deposit his full payment in his foreign account since it was an emergency. So we had asked for special permission to do that. This time he needs the work permit and we must follow the regulations."

Currently the HP team is undergoing a conditioning and bowling camp under the supervision of Champaka Ramanayake of Sri Lanka.
