Rishad shines on PSL debut as Lahore thrash Quetta

Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain made a memorable Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut, playing a pivotal role in Lahore Qalandars' commanding 79-run victory over Quetta Gladiators at the Rawalpindi Stadium on Sunday.
Left out of the playing XI in Lahore's opening match against Islamabad United on Friday, the 22-year-old seized his opportunity in style. Rishad was the standout performer with the ball, returning figures of three for 31 in his four overs, helping to dismiss Quetta for 140 while chasing a daunting target of 220.
Introduced in the seventh over of the innings, Rishad conceded just seven runs in his first over. He struck in his second over, bowling a sharp googly to dismiss Quetta's top scorer Rilee Rossouw, who had raced to 44 off just 19 balls. Rossouw had just launched a six over midwicket before being bowled.
Rishad remained wicketless in his third over in which he gave away nine runs – the same number he conceded in his previous over. He was hit for a six by Akeal Hossain but it did not make much of a difference to Lahore who already had the match firmly in their grasps.
Rishad's final over, the 13th of the innings, proved to be his most effective. He removed Mohammad Amir and Abrar Ahmed while conceding just six runs, capping off an impressive debut.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars posted an imposing total of 219 for six, thanks to quick-fire half-centuries from Fakhar Zaman (67 off 39) and Sam Billings (50 off 19). Abdullah Shafique and Daryl Mitchell also made valuable contributions, scoring 37 each.
