Shakib Al Hasan put in an all-round display to propel Guyana Amazon Warriors to a 37-run victory over Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League in the early hours of Sunday (Bangladesh time).

Having made two first-ball ducks in his first two matches, the Bangladesh all-rounder stepped up his game and fired a 25-ball 35 as his side scored 173 for six in 20 overs. The left-hander hit four fours and one six in his cameo after Rahmanullah Gurbaz his 60 off 42 to give Guyana a perfect foundation. Shimron Hetmyer (23 off 14) and Odean Smith (22* off 7) finished off proceedings with a flourish.

Shakib, who took three wickets in the first two matches, shone with the ball too taking three wickets for 20 runs in this match. He accounted for the dismissals of Tim Seifret, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine as TKR were bowled out for 136 in 20 overs. Shakib also effected the run-out of Nicholas Pooran and deservedly took the player-of-the-match award.

With nine points from nine matches, Guyana are in second position on the six-team table. Barbados Royals lead the table with 16 points from nine matches.
