Shanto, Mushfiqur guide Sylhet to 175
A couple of fifties from Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim helped Sylhet Strikers post 175 for seven against Comilla Victorians in the final of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
Defending champions Comilla made early inroads after deciding to field first as in-form Towhid Hridoy and captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza returned to the pavilion after making 0 and 1, respectively.
However, Shanto, the highest run-getter in the ongoing tournament, launched a counterattack alongside Mushfiqur Rahim to take away Comilla's early initiative.
The left-hander struck his fourth fifty of this BPL campaign on his way to scoring 64 off 45 balls, featuring nine fours and a six, and became the first Bangladeshi batter to score at least 500 runs in one BPL campaign. Mushfiqur, on the other hand, contributed with an unbeaten 48-ball 74 that contained five fours and three sixes.
