Three senior team players named as Bangladesh announce squad
The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the squad for the upcoming ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa including four senior team players on Thursday.
BCB named a 15-member squad and Disha Biswas was made the captain with Shorna Akhter acting as her deputy.
Disha, Rabeya, Marufa Akter and Dilara Akter have recently toured New Zealand with the senior team and three of the aforementioned quartet have already made their international debut for Bangladesh.
The team will leave for Johannesburg on January 1 where they will begin preparations with a training camp and several practice matches to gear up for the tournament.
BCB Women Wing Selector Monjurul Islam asserted that the team will be competitive in the upcoming tournament on the basis of the preparations they have taken.
"We have selected a squad that has been together for the past two years and therefore, there is excellent team spirit and understanding,''
"Four players in this side, captain Disha Biswas, Rabeya, Marufa Akter and Dilara Akter have toured New Zealand with the senior team and three of them have made full international appearances already. Our under-19 side also played five matches against the Malaysian national women's team at home and won all the games," he said.
"I am confident that this team will be very competitive in the first ever Under 19 World Cup for women," he added.
