Tigers sent in to bat first by Ireland

Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie won the toss and sent visitors Bangladesh to bat first in the first ODI of the three-match series in Chelmsford, England today.

Ireland captain Balbirnie said on winning the toss: "Will try to turn this into our home for this week, and have a good week." Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal said they are going with three fast bowlers. "After the first ten overs, when it stops swinging, I think it will be a very good wicket," he added.

Ireland will need to win all three matches of the series including a big-margin win in one of those to have a chance of directly qualifying for this year's ODI World Cup.

Bangladesh XI: Tamim Iqbal, Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakin Al Hasan, Towhid Hridoy, Yasir Ali, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Ebadot Hossain

Ireland XI: Paul Stirling, Stephen Doheny, Andrew Balbirnie (capt), Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Curtis Campher, George Dockrell, Andrew McBrine, Mark Adair, Graham Hume, Josh Little.
