Tigers suffer heavy defeat in dead rubber

With the series already in the bag, Bangladesh's hopes of a whitewash over India crashed as the visitors handed the Tigers a comprehensive 227-run defeat in the final match of the three-match ODI series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.

Chasing the mammoth target of 410, Liton Das and his troops failed to manage even half of it. The Tigers were bundled out for 182 in 34 overs. Despite having a quick start, openers Anamul Haque and Liton Das departed in the first powerplay.

Experienced batter Shakib Al Hasan tried to build partnerships in the middle-order during his 43-run knock, but the batters on the opposite end fell prey to Indian ballers. Following the allrounder's departure, wickets fell in quick succession as the lower-middle order collapsed.

Tailender Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman showed some resistance in the end with their partnership of 33 runs off 26 balls during the last-wicket stand, but it only narrowed the margin of defeat – Bangladesh's second-highest in terms of runs.
