Young Ariful gets picked for Pakistan Junior League
Bangladesh's young all-rounder Ariful Islam was picked for the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Junior League (PJL) -- a franchise-based Under-19 tournament organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Ariful was the only Bangladeshi to be picked from the players' draft that took place on Thursday. The 17-year-old, who was included in the premier category, was roped in by Gujranwala Giants. Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik will work as the mentor of the side.
Ariful smashed a blistering hundred against Pakistan in the previous ICC Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies earlier this year.
Four Bangladeshi players were named in the players' draft.
Apart from Pakistan, a total of 140 youth cricketers from eight different cricketing nations including Australia, England, Afghanistan, Ireland, Sri Lanka, West Indies, Zimbabwe, and Bangladesh submitted their names for the PJL players' draft.
The six-team tournament is set to take place between October 6 to 21 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
