Refrain from posting abusive comments: Mushfiqur

Bangladesh wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim has termed the Bangladesh Cricket fans as “one of the most passionate cricket fans in the world” and urges them to “refrain from posting any abusive comments on social network”.

Mushfiq’s call came hours after Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza put “country restriction” on his official Facebook page, protesting abusive comments on a photo of Bangladesh middle order batsman Nasir Hossain and his sister. As a result, no Bangladeshi is now allowed to post or even browse the Narail Express’ Facebook page.

In a post on his official Facebook page last night, Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiq said, “Bangladesh cricket fans are globally known to be one of the most passionate cricket fans in the world. The support that the team receives from the fans on and off the field have been amazing over the years, and hopefully it will continue forever. However, please refrain from posting any abusive comments on social network, be it on the page of a Bangladeshi cricketer, or any other foreign celebrity. Everyone tries their heart and soul to make their nation proud so every individual deserves some respect in return.”

The post published with a photo of Bangladeshi fans waving the national flag also reads: “Hence, it's a request to all of you to please keep your views clean while posting on social media. Person using any kind of abusive language would be banned from the page.”

Earlier, some Facebook users posted some abusive comments after Nasir Hossain uploaded a picture with his sister on his Facebook page.

Being hurt, Nasir later removed the picture and replied in a post: “Whoever do not like me, please don’t follow me and put comments in my picture.”
