Abahani Limited v Prime Bank Cricket Club
Abahani Limited registered their sixth win in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League when they came out in front by five wickets against Prime Bank Cricket Club at BKSP No.3 ground today.
Chasing 241, Abahani rode on their Indian recruit Yusuf Pathan’s 60 and Mosaddek Hossain’s unbeaten 64 to reach home in 44.3 overs. Yusuf smacked seven fours and two sixes in his whirlwind knock. Mosaddek was also in a belligerent mood as he smashed four fours and four sixes in his 49-ball cameo.
Earlier, Prime Bank Cricket Club managed to post 240 for 9 on the board after Abahani Limited captain Tamim Iqbal invited Shuvagata Hom’s side to bat first.
Prime Bank endured a shaky start and were struggling at 4-79 inside 20 overs, however their middle order came to the rescue with crucial partnerships of 35, 45 and 50 for the 4th, 5th and 6th wicket respectively. Nurul Hasan top-scored for Prime Bank with 46 from 54. Taibur made 43.
Shakib Al Hasan, who returned to List A cricket for Abahani after a break of six years in the last match took four wickets for 35 runs in 10 overs. Shakib sent back Sabbir Rahman, Unmukt Chand, Mehedi Maruf and Nazmul Islam to stall Prime Bank. Saqlain Sajib grabbed his best bowling figures of DPL 2016 with 3-37.
Kalabagan Cricket Academy v Cricket Coaching School
Kalabagan Cricket Academy tasted their second win of DPL 2016 when they managed to beat Cricket Coaching School by five wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis method at Fatullah.
Kalabagan rode on Jatin Saxena’s second highest knock in this tournament to reach their target in 40.1 overs. Jatin made 87 from 95 balls with seven fours and three sixes to his name.
Earlier, Fatullah Cricket Coaching School captain Rajin Saleh won the toss and opted to bat first against Kalabagan Cricket Academy led by Mahmudul Hasan. Rajin’s decision backfired almost immediately as he was the first batter to be dismissed inside the second over, and his team was all at sea by over 27 when the scoreboard read 95 for 6.
For CCS, the seventh wicket stand of 52 in 16.5 overs gave their total some degree of respectability. Amit Majumder contributed to CCS’s total with 38 from 83 while Mohammad Saifuddin made 28 from 55 balls.
Kalabagan Cricket Academy bowlers were on song from ball one, and pegged back CCS with early wickets. Mahmudul took three for 37 in 10 overs. Jatin Saxena bagged two while Abu Jayed, Bishawnath Haldar and Mehedi Miraz picked up a wicket each.
Prime Doleshwar v Gazi Group Cricketers
Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club reinforced their hold on the second spot of DPL’s points table after they defeated Gazi Group Cricketers by five wickets at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
Prime DSC needed 214 runs to win, and their reached their objective with six balls in hand. 40s from Nasir Hossain and Rony Talukdar kept Gazi Group bowlers at bay. Ashok Menaria took Prime DSC to victory with his unbeaten 59 from 61. He struck two fours and two sixes in his match-winning knock.
The low-scoring trend in today’s round of DPL matches continued at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur where Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club kept Gazi Group Cricketers down to 213 for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs.
Prime Doleshwar skipper Farhad Reza chose to field first and his bowlers had Gazi Group struggling at 5-97 inside 33 overs. Elias Sunny kept one end secured for Gazi Group with 46 from 68. Mohammad Sharif’s cameo of 39 from 25 late in the innings kept Prime DSC bowlers at bay.
Prime DSC’s Indian recruit Ashok Menaria managed to hurt Gazi Group with three wickets for 29 in nine overs. Farhad Reza captured two wickets while Rahatul Ferdous had one.
