'Still a great chance for a result'

Despite the second day of the second Test getting rained off yesterday, South Africa middle order batsman JP Duminy believes that a result could well be possible at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

Duminy, whose three wickets in the first innings stomped the hosts and broke their flow, believed that the wicket at Mirpur would only get harder to bat on as the Test progresses.

"I think if the weather holds up, there is still great opportunity for a result. It's going to be a hard fought Test match. We have seen the wicket deteriorating already on day one.

"There's going to bit of turn and that's going to be a bit of a challenge for us. Like I said the way we bat in the first innings, in terms of our batting, is going to be key. If we can get a decent enough lead and try and put a bit of aggression than anything can happen," Duminy told reporters at the team hotel yesterday.

Yesterday wasn't the first time in the tour when the player's turners pegged back the hosts. He has bowled at a decent line and length throughout the limited overs matches and was often the go-to man whenever Hashim Amla needed a partnership to be broken.

On Thursday, Duminy had taken two wickets of two set player in his first two overs, that of Mominul Haque and Imrul Kayes, and in a way changed the game around for the visitors.

"Yeah it was a crucial one at that stage of that game. They were just one wicket down and building quite a decent partnership and it was crucial for us to try and break it and make our way into the game. It's great to contribute with the ball again. I wasn't given much opportunity in the first Test. So to contribute with the ball is always great," said Duminy

"I think it's just about being consistent with my line and length. That's what I have done. In Test match cricket at times you probably have to be more boring than anything else. So my focus has just been my line and length," added the player when asked about the different aspects that he kept in mind while bowling in the subcontinent.

While Duminy was disappointed at the fact that the second day of the Test had been called off, he believed that his side would be able to continue on with their good run.

"I guess at the end the day there's nothing we can do about it. With us not playing today, we just need to get to the game and try and refocus again tomorrow.

" Day one of the Test, I think was a pretty good effort. I thought they [Bangladesh] played well in patches. During those patches, we just held them to a decent run-rate. That kept us in the game.

"We always knew that if we added two wickets to their score at any given time, we knew we were back in the game. I think the last session was crucial for us. We picked up five wickets for 90 odd runs," he added.
