Tamim batting again

There is some good news for Bangladesh cricket ahead of the ODI series against Afghanistan as star opener Tamim Iqbal’s recovery from a fractured finger is progressing as expected. 

The left-handed batsman underwent a CT scan today afternoon and according to sources in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Tamim’s recovery is on track. 

The left-hander even batted on the main pitch of the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium against both spinners and pacers under lights this evening. This was his first foray with the bat since sustaining the injury during a training session on August 29. It was then said that his situation would be reassessed on September 17. 

"The report said that the fracture in my finger is still there but it's not that serious and if I want I can bat," Tamim said after his batting session. "That's why I batted today to see if it hurts. It didn't hurt at all and I felt completely normal. So that's a good sign."

Judging by his claim of pain-free batting and reports from Mirpur saying that Tamim was batting well under the lights, his return for the three-ODI Afghanistan series starting on September 25 seems to be on the cards.
