Tamim ton takes Abahani home
Abahani Limited vs Cricket Coaching School
Second-placed Abahani Limited enjoyed their seventh win of DPL 2016 after they defeated Cricket Coaching School on Tamim Iqbal’s century by 9 wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis method at BKSP’s No.3 ground today.
Abahani captain Tamim Iqbal won the toss and invited Rajin Saleh of CCS to bat first. CCS did not have the best of starts but the 123-run stand for the fourth wicket kept them in the game. Rajin kept one end secured with his second highest knock in the ongoing DPL. His 95 was made from 135 balls and contained five fours and four sixes. As Abahani bowlers came back late in the innings, CCS managed to reach 205 in 50 overs.
Shakib Al Hasan of Abahani continued his good run with the ball with a three-for today. Abul Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Yusuf Pathan took two wickets each.
Abahani’s revised target was 168 from 35 overs after rain played spoilsport at Savar. Tamim Iqbal and Nazmul Hossain Shanto took the game away from CCS with their belligerent batting. The Southpaw from Chittagong registered his maiden ton in DPL 2016 with 105 not out from 86 balls with 11 fours and four hits over the fence. Shanto contributed to his team’s cause with 50 from 70 balls.
Prime Bank Cricket Club vs Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club
In the second rain-affected match of DPL today, Prime Bank CC came out in front by 7 wickets under the Duckworh-Lewis method against table topper Prime Doleshwar at Fatullah.
Prime Bank Cricket Club captain Shuvagata Hom opted to field first and his bowlers had Prime DSC struggling at 5-109 inside 31 overs. Sunzamul Islam and Rony Talukdar tried to stop the rot but couldn’t make much of an impression. Prime DSC were bundled out for 188 in 47.4 overs.
Due to the rain break, Prime Bank’s revised target was 165 runs from 36 overs. The unbeaten fourth wicket partnetship of 114 runs between Unmukt Chand and Sabbir Rahman took Prime Bank home. Chand made 59 from 74. Sabbir smashed 62 from 57 with four fours and three sixes to his name.
Kalabagan Cricket Academy vs Kalabagan Krira Chakra
The match between two Kalabagan outfits was called off due to incessant rain at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur today. Play was called off at 2:30 pm, and will resume tomorrow at 9:00 am on reserve day.
Kalabagan Krira Chakra captain Mashrafe Mortaza won the toss and choose to field first. Kalabagan Cricket Academy reached 34 for 4 inside 15 overs when the clouds burst open at Mirpur.
