Rahul Tripathi scored 93 off just 52 balls as Rising Pune Supergiant eased to a four-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in their Indian Premier League encounter at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata last night.

The 26-year-old opener smacked seven sixes and nine fours in his whirlwind knock to guide the visitors home with four balls to spare as the Steven Smith-led side crept up to the third position on the table, with Kolkata Knight Riders staying in second.

It was an almost a one-man show during  Pune's chase as the second highest score of the innings was only 14, coming from the bat of Ben Stokes.

Despite a three-wicket haul from Kolkata's Chris Woakes, there was hardly any respite for the bowlers from the onslaught of Tripathi, who eventually got out with his side assured of victory.

SCORES IN BRIEF

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS: 155 for 8 (Pandey 37, Pathan 36, Grandhomme 30 not out; Sundar 2-18)

RISING PUNE SUPERGIANT:  158 for 6 in 19.2 overs (Tripathi 93, Stokes 14; Woakes 3-18)

Result: RPS won by four wickets
