ICC Cricket World Cup 2015
'CONTROVERSIAL' UMPIRING, SPAT WITH ICC CHAIRMAN

ICC president Mustafa Kamal quits

International Cricket Council (ICC) President AHM Mustafa Kamal today announced resignation over “controversial” umpiring during Bangladesh-India quarterfinal and the top cricket body’s denial to let him hand over the trophy to the champions.

Kamal made the announcement at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport this afternoon on his return from Australia finishing up his cricket World Cup tour.

Visibly fuming, Kamal blasted those in the top cricket body as “ugly people”.

He stated that the ICC has a long standing reputation, and a legacy of trust, respect, equity and truthfulness, and that is why cricket touches everyone’s heart.

“Some ‘ugly’ people, who cannot be the right people for cricket, have tarnished its spirit with their unconstitutional moves, but in the end they could not win, they themselves got humiliated, and they will never forget what happened at Melbourne,” Kamal said while speaking to journalists.

He said he cannot work together with those who can do unconstitutional things by force and thus he is quitting as ICC president and unfold the truth to let the whole world know what is happening at the ICC.

“In Bangladesh, cricket acts as a source of inspiration. I will serve the cause of Bangladesh cricket till the day I die,” he also said.

He expressed his deepest respect to 160 million Bangladeshis, whom he addressed as the source of his ‘inspiration, dignity, and self esteem’.

He hoped that cricket will progress further under ICC’s stewardship with trust, equity and truthfulness.
