Who’ll steal the show - Rohit Sharma or Ahmed Shehzad?
A match which many consider “a final before the final”, Sunday’s India-Pakistan match will draw millions of fans across the globe before the TV screens. Members of the two squads will definitely try to display their best in the nerve game of the two South Asian giants. While fans’ and audiences’ eyes will be on some top stars, especially the top order batsmen, even the last man in the squads may make the difference.
From the Indian side, Rohit Sharma might dazzle while aggressive Pakistani opener Ahmed Shehzad may also steal the show.
An exciting batsman who made his One-Day International debut in 2010, Sharma had appeared in more than 60 ODIs and 20 Twenty20s by the time he was 24 years old.
He has had some outstanding performances through more than 120 ODI games including a high score of 209 in late 2013.
But his biggest feat to date came in late 2014, when he blitzed Sri Lanka to score 264 from 173 balls – the highest individual ODI score in history. This will be his first ICC Cricket World Cup.
Meanwhile, Shehzad, whose first-class debut came in January 2007 when he was just 15 years old, has played more than 55 one-day internationals since making his debut in early 2009 at the age of just 17.
He played four ODIs in 2009 and returned to the Pakistan team in 2011, when he scored his first one-day ton in the lead-up to the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.
His 115 from 104 against New Zealand secured his place in the Cup squad and he played five matches during that tournament.
The batsman returned to the Pakistan 50-overs side in mid-2013 after a two-year absence and has been a regular member of the team since, scoring four centuries between November 2013 and December 2014.
