Imranur records personal best to move into Asian Athletics semis
Bangladesh sprinter Imranur Rahman recorded his personal best to qualify for the semifinals in the 100m sprint in the 25th Asian Athletics Championships at the Suphachalasai Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday.
The country's fastest man clocked at 10.25 seconds but had to settle for a second-place finish behind Ryuichiro Sakai of Japan in Heat-1 which featured sprinters from Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, Korea, Jordan, and Turkmenistan.
Imranur's previous best was 10.29 seconds that he recorded during the Summer Athletics Championships last September.
He became overall sixth amongst 40 competitors and is expected to progress into the final if he can maintain his tempo in tomorrow's semifinals.
Japan's Hiroki Yanagita topped the table with his personal best of 10.10 seconds in Heat-4.
