Bagha Sharif retains title of Jabbarer Boli Khela

Defending champion Bagha Sharif, from Homna, Cumilla, claimed victory in the 116th edition of the Abdul Jabbarer Boli Khela at Laldighi Maidan in Chattogram on Friday. This marks his second consecutive win in the event, as he triumphed over Rashed Boli from Cumilla Sadar in the final.
The final match, which lasted approximately 45 minutes, not only tested the endurance of the wrestlers but also captivated several thousand spectators watching from the stands.
Both Sharif and Rashed had previously faced off in the final of the 115th edition of the event last year, where Sharif emerged victorious.
Rashed, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the referee's decision this time, claiming that his opponent "could not defeat" him. The referees, though, dismissed his claim on the spot.
The 116th edition of the event was officially inaugurated by Hasib Aziz, Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
A total of 80 contestants from across the country participated in the event, although 120 individuals had registered. The winners of the first round advanced to the second round, continuing through to the quarterfinals and further ahead.
A total of 40 first-round winners received prize money of Tk 2,000 each. The champion was awarded Tk 30,000 and a crest, while the runner-up received Tk 20,000 and a crest.
Shahadat Hossain, Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation, was present as the chief guest and distributed the prizes to the winners.
