Bangladesh exact revenge over Oman
Bangladesh exacted revenge over Oman for their Asian Games Qualifiers dribbling with a 2-1 win in the Asia Cup in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The men in red and green were thrashed 6-2 in the Asian Games Qualifiers final a week ago but today they played much better and eked out the victory against a side ranked 23rd in the world.
Bangladesh, who had beaten the same opposition twice earlier this year, are ranked 29th.
In a keenly contested encounter, Gobimathan Krishnamurthy's charges took a sixth-minute lead through a penalty corner from Ashraful Islam.
Rashed Al Fazari equalised for Oman with a fantastic field goal early in the second quarter, but Bangladesh regained their advantage in the 40th minute through another penalty corner, this time Rakibul Hasan smashing home a rebound.
Bangladesh, who had started the campaign with a 6-1 defeat against South Korea on Monday, will take on their last group match against Malaysia on Thursday.
