Bangladesh gymnast Ali seals a silver in Singapore Open
Bangladesh gymnast Ali Kader Haque has won a silver medal in the Vaulting Table event at the 17th Singapore Open Gymnastics Championships yesterday.
The 19-year-old had achieved the feat during his first international outing for the country in the senior division. Earlier, the gymnast was the first to reach the qualifying round and later fought hard till the end in the gold-medal deciding round.
Under the guidance of Cho Sung Dong, the newly appointed high-profile coach from South Korea, Ali's silver grab would help boost the confidence of Bangladeshi gymnasts before the upcoming Commonwealth Games, scheduled to be held in July in Birmingham.
The Singapore Open, which began on May 26, involves 22 national teams, including the likes of China, Malaysia and hosts Singapore.
