Imranur improves timing
Bangladesh's fastest man Imranur Rahman bettered his timing in 100m sprint but had to be eliminated from Birmingham Commonwealth Games after finishing third in the heats at Alexander Stadium in yesterday.
The England-based sprinter took 10.46 seconds, 00.01 second improvement on his performance from the World Athletics Championships in July, in Heat-3. Ghana's B Azamati and Wales' J Azu qualified for the semifinals from the same with timing of 10.19 and 10.35 seconds respectively.
The 29-year-old sprinter, who broke a 22-year-old national record on his debut appearance in national championships last year, finished 33rd out of 70 sprinters. Meanwhile, female sprinter Sumaiya Dewan finished 19th out of 21 sprinters as the country's fastest woman took 12.42 seconds in Heat-7, ending last in that heat.
