WFM Wadifa becomes runner-up in Nepal
Woman Fide Master (WFM) Wadifa Ahmed became the runners-up in the women's category of the South Asian Chess Council Chess Championship after beating Sujana Lohani of Nepal in the seventh and final round held in Kathmandu, Nepal on Sunday.
Wadifa secured 5.5 points from seven matches to finish behind India's Woman International Master (WIM) Chitlange Sakshi, who emerged as the unbeaten champion with full seven points from as many matches.
Woman Candidate Master (WCM) Jannatul Ferdous finished fourth in the women's category with four points from seven matches, while Fide Master Mehdi Hasan Parag and FM Mohammed Abdul Malek became sixth and seventh in the open category by securing 3.5 points each from nine matches respectively.
A total of ten players from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Pakistan participated in the open category, while seven players from Bangladesh, India and Nepal took part in the women's category.
