ITF Asia U-14 Development Championship starts on Sunday
The International Tennis Federation Asia Under-14 Development Championship will get underway on Sunday at the Sheikh Jamal National Tennis Complex in Ramna with 34 players from 10 countries taking part in the competition.
Hosts Bangladesh, Bhutan, Chinese Taipei, Myanmar, Mongolia, Nepal, and Maldives will fight it out in all four events--Boy's singles and doubles and Girl's singles and doubles-- while Pakistan, Cambodia, and Laos will be playing in the Boy's events only.
Mongolia and Maldives have already reached Dhaka while the players from the remaining seven countries are scheduled to touch down on Saturday.
Bangladesh Tennis Federation president and State Minister of Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury will inaugurate the tournament as the chief guest.
The championships will be played across two phases with the first running from January 9 to 13 and the second one from January 15 to 19—and will feature the same 10 teams.
BTF general secretary and tournament director Engineer Abu Sayeed Mohammad Haider informed that the top four teams from the two phases of this regional tournament would advance to the final round in 2024.
