Mahmudullah rues lack of partnerships
Bangladesh T20I skipper Mahmudullah Riyad mentioned that lack of partnerships cost them the second T20I against Afghanistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
After electing to bat, the Tigers suffered a batting collapse as they lost four wickets before reaching fifty.
"Yeah, it was a good wicket to bat on, but we did not have enough partnerships," Mahmudullah said at the presentation ceremony following their eight-wicket defeat today.
"I'm very disappointed. It wasn't a 150-run wicket but a score around 130 was obtainable. There were no partnerships, especially at the top. Me and Mushy [Mushfiqur Rahim] were trying to get a partnership. Both of us could have scored a few more runs," he added.
Bangladesh's fielding efforts matched their average batting on the day as the Tigers dropped as many as three simple catches at pivotal moments of the game.
"We need to find something to work on [the fielding]. it's been bothering us, we need to improve our fielding. I think we'll have more T20 games in July. Hopefully, we can come back strong," Mahmudullah concluded.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan T20I captain Mohammad Nabi was satisfied with the way his troops bounced back to level the two-match series 1-1.
"The boys played well. We threw away one wicket early but we came back well. In the first game, we made mistakes in batting and we learned from it. We are trying to build a young bench for the Asia Cup and World Cup. We're trying our best to keep the momentum going," Nabi said.
